Oboist Dr. William McMullen with pianist Catherine Herbener will present a faculty recital at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall featuring four works for oboe by the French composers, François Couperin, Benjamin Godard, Francis Poulenc, and Pierre Sancan.
The program represents literature from the mid-Baroque era, flourishing in the French royal court, to Romantic French salon music to mid and late twentieth century. All of this repertoire shows lyrical elements of the oboe and includes fascinating treatment of trills as well as “modern” harmonies of Poulenc and Sancan.
