I am writing to inform you about the exclusive ‘invitation-only’ Spring Strings Honors Orchestra to be held at the Glenn Korff School of Music at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln on February 23-24. This year special guest is internationally renowned conductor Maestro Steven Trinkle.
The Honors Spring Strings Festival will be held at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for high school freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors. Students will work directly with UNL’s award winning string faculty including members of the Grammy Award-nominated Chiara String Quartet, Albany Records recording artist David Neely, Lincoln Symphony Principal Violist Clark Potter, cellist with the Trio Nuovo and Concordia String Trio Dr. Karen Becker, and EMI and Innova recording artist Dr. Hans Sturm. Students attending the festival will have the opportunity to perform in a string orchestra, receive chamber music coaching from members of the Chiara Quartet, and perform in solo masterclasses with the UNL string faculty.
Special guest conductor Steven Trinkle:
Conductor and music director of the Powder River Symphony, Steven Trinkle has worked with a wide variety of ensembles including choirs, orchestras, music theatre, and university ensembles. His conducting teachers have included Sam Jones, Kurt Muspratt, Paul Vermel, Don Portnoy and the many conductors with whom he has worked and observed for the past 40 years. Ensembles under his direction have toured the USA, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, and Brazil. A trumpeter by training and trade, Trinkle has worked in orchestras in the United States, Italy and Venezuela including the Houston Symphony, the August Symphony, the Kansas City Philharmonic, the Shreveport Symphony, the Orchestra Sinfonica dalla Radiotelevisione Italiana and the Orquesta Sinfonica de Maracaibo.
