The Campus Orchestra and Pershing Winds close their 2018-2019 season with a combined concert of “Music Speaks” on Thursday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. Inspired by the power of music, the program features an array of works that “speak to” the human expression of dance, love, and loss. Opening the concert is an exciting array of works by Pershing Winds including Flashing Winds by Jan Van der Roost, Samuel Barber’s Andante and Tranquillo from Symphony No. 1, and Highlights from Riverdance by Bill Wheelan (arranged by Johan De Meij). Featured works by Campus Orchestra will include Symphony No. 1 by Mozart, Incantations by Richard Meyer, and Farandole from Bizet’s L’Arlesienne Suite No. 2. Combined ensembles will feature soprano Marci Malone DeAmbrose on Dvorák’s Song to the Moon, and close with an arrangement of Stravinsky’s Berceuse and Finale from The Firebird Suite.
The Campus Orchestra, directed by Dr. Tyler White, is comprised of non-music major students and displays the talent of students representing departments from all over the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
General Admission $5; Students/Seniors $3
