The Department of Chemical Engineering is hosting a Secondary Education STEM Workshop on June 25, 2020. We invite high school teachers across Nebraska to attend. The intended audience is new and experienced math, physics, and chemistry teachers for high school level courses.
This year’s workshop will include:
• All new content appropriate for high school level coursework
• A relaxed schedule to encourage networking
• In-class activities and breakouts
• Examples of how coding and programming can be incorporated into high school math and science courses
This one-day workshop will give secondary educators insight into how chemical engineering problems are approached and solved by applying math and science principles. Faculty from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering will facilitate the workshop.
Benefits of Attending:
Educators attending the workshop will:
• receive resources and activities that can be incorporated into existing curriculum demonstrating how math, chemistry, and physics are used to analyze and solve engineering problem; and
• learn how chemical engineers are working to solve some of the greatest challenges facing our society today.
The workshop will be held at Othmer Hall in Lincoln, NE (820 N 16th St) on city campus from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; lunch will be provided. Participants are invited to attend an optional brewery tour and complimentary dinner afterward in downtown Lincoln.
