College is a critical time to properly care for your oral health. Not sure where to start? The University Health Center dental staff suggests trying these five simple tips for a healthy smile:

1. Brush twice a day and floss once a day.
2. When brushing, use toothpaste with fluoride and a soft toothbrush.
3. Schedule a dental checkup twice a year.
4. After lunch or a snack, chew sugar-free gum for 5 to 10 minutes to reduce acid in your mouth.
5. Don’t sip on sodas, energy drinks or juice throughout the day. If you are going to drink them, do so with meals.

If you need a toothbrush or other oral hygiene supplies, stop by the health center pharmacy to purchase them at an affordable price.

If you’re due for a dental exam, make an appointment at the health center dental office. We’re conveniently located, making it easy to be seen in between classes and other commitments. Call 402.472.7459 to schedule.
