The Sheldon Museum of Art presents the exhibit, "Intersecting Identities," highlighting converging human attributes. Our event will provide a dialogue for the art and its context within society. From 4-5 PM, a panel of campus professionals will help to unravel the ideas presented in the exhibit. This speaking panel will be followed by a series of 30-minute tours of the exhibit at 5 PM, 5:30 PM, and 6 PM with a simultaneous reception from 5-6:30 PM with heavy appetizers provided. Intersectionality in Art and Life will provide a space to better understand the reality of societal constructs and how they influence individuals and communities.
"Drawn from Sheldon’s collection, Intersecting Identities offers a selection of artworks that present the complexities of lived experience. Created by or depicting people of color, these works engage in a dialogue on how race intersects with other facets of identity—such as ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, and social class."
