The 2021 spring semester is growing closer, and you're probably planning for your move back to campus. Remember -- you'll need to schedule your COVID-19 saliva test to take place within 24 hours after your arrival. Following your test, you must quarantine until you receive ‘Access Granted’ status in the Safer Community app (likely 24 hours).
If you have a university dining plan, during your quarantine you can still take meals to-go. Once you have an ‘Access Granted’ status, you’ll be able to eat in dining centers if you choose to do so.
Here are six things to do while awaiting your test results:
1) Order your required textbooks. Visit the University Bookstore online to buy or rent the books you'll need for your new classes. You can also order online and pick up your books later to avoid long lines.
2) Bookmark the UNL Student Events Calendar. Here you'll find student-focused events - music, social, sports, fitness, workshops, and more - from all over campus in one convenient location. Use the filters to find your favorite activities by date, interest, or subject.
3) Get active with a club, organization, fraternity or sorority. This website contains every Recognized Student Organization (RSO) at the university and you can easily search and sort to find out how to contact and join groups for activities later in the semester.
4) Sign up for UNL Alert. This is the university's system to notify you via text of campus emergencies so you can make good decisions.
5) Plan for how you'll support your personal well-being this semester. The campus supports a nine-dimension model of well-being and has resources to help you along the way.
6) Check your class schedule to know which types of classes you're attending. You may have a mixture of web conference, in-person and online courses, so double check how each course is being conducted. Read about the different types of courses here.
