The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Big Red Singers and the Vocal Jazz Ensemble will perform in a 7:30 p.m., December 5 concert in Kimball Recital Hall.
Tickets, available at the door, are $3 for students and senior citizens, and $5 general admission. The performance will also be streamed live online at https://arts.unl.edu/music.
Directed by Nick McGraw with Peter Eklund, professor of music, as faculty adviser, the Big Red Singers is an ensemble featuring some of the university’s finest musicians. The group serves as an ambassador to the choral area of the School of Music. They will perform 12 pieces including Watch Me Soar, Kaboom Pow, Let the Light In and Candle on the Water.
The Vocal Jazz Ensemble is directed by David von Kampen, a lecturer in the School of Music. The group is a small choir instructed in jazz style, ensemble singing, lyric delivery, solos and improvisation. The ensemble performs arrangements of standard and contemporary jazz repertoire in collaboration with a rhythm section. They will perform five pieces including By Fire and Aria.
