In an effort to promote safe bicycle riding and foster community among cyclists, UNL Campus Recreation offers free bike commuter skills classes for UNL students.

Smart Cycling is a class designed by the League of American Bicyclists that outlines the basic rules of the road, components of a bicycle, and all of the information you need to ride a bike safely and confidently. Participants will learn how to use a bicycle with confidence and competence for pleasure, utility and sport under various highway, climate, terrain and traffic conditions. Class time is spent on the bike doing drills to build bike handling skills and riding on the street as a part of traffic.

Spring classes are held 4-8 p.m. Apr. 9 or Apr. 16 at the Outdoor Adventures Center. Classes are free for UNL students and Campus Rec member and $30 for General Public. Participants can register for the class via the link below, by calling 402.472.4777 or by visiting the Outdoor Adventures Center.
