Outdoor Fall Break Trips Offer Low-Cost Adventure, Exploration

Campus Recreation Outdoor Adventures is offering four exciting adventure trips during the University's Fall Break, Oct. 12-17. Trips are open to UNL students, faculty/staff and general public. No experience is required and all gear, transportation, instructors, insurance, permits and meals are provided. Adventure trips provide a fun, easy way to enjoy nature, experience new places and meet new people. All skill levels are welcome

WHITEWATER PADDLING at Charles City Whitewater Park
While Nebraska might be sparse when it comes to whitewater, you’ll love testing your skills at the Charles City Whitewater Park Learn not only to read the river and find the cleanest line down rapids, but work on the techniques needed to guide your kayak where you want it to go. All participants must attend 5 pool paddle sessions held on Monday evenings prior to taking part in the trip. Registration deadline is Oct. 9 and fees are $275 for UNL students and CREC members and $325 for the general public.

OZARK CLIMBING in Arkansas
Discover some of the best rock climbing in the Southeast – the secluded and steep bluffs of the Ozarks. The Arkansas climbing scene offers a unique selection of bouldering and varied sport climbing. Take in the beautiful views complete with rolling hills, rocky outcrops and changing fall colors while we find climbs for all skill ranges. This trip is a great introduction to the sport of rock climbing and will satisfy both beginning and experienced climbers. Registration deadline is Oct. 9 and fees are $275 for UNL students and CREC members and $325 for the general public.

OZARK BACKPACKING in Arkansas
Backpack through a lush and dense Arkansas forest with everything you need on your back on this four-day excursion. Connect with fellow adventurers and develop the basic skills of wilderness travel and backcountry camping as we navigate the trails together. Enjoy gourmet camp cooking, crisp forest streams and beautiful autumn colors on this fall break trip to remember. Registration deadline is Oct. 9 and fees are $275 for UNL students and CREC members and $325 for the general public.
