The University Singers proudly present a concert in collaboration with the Glenn Korff School of Music keyboard and string departments on Thursday, November 8 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.
The ensemble will open the concert with Joy, the exciting musical setting of Sara Teasdale’s poem arranged for four-hand piano featuring Ross Mosier and Paul Zeller. Also presented will be Josef Rheinberger’s rarely recorded set Fünf Lieder, Op. 31. These traditional partsongs with charming melodies and themes of love and nature promise to be a concert highlight. Mozart’s Missa Brevis in G, KV 49, Rheinberger’s Die Nacht, and Ola Gjeilo’s Song of the Universal will feature university string players. These three works accentuate the versatility of the collaborating ensemble as they bring to life a vast array of colors and styles. Please join the University Singers, guest-conducted by Anne Gassmann, for this vibrant performance of pieces from the choral canon.
University Singers, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s premiere and historic flagship choral ensemble, presents the finest and most versatile choral singers in the entire University. While many of the choir’s singers are music majors, students from throughout the University are encouraged to audition and participate.
