
UNL, ESU 16 offer math course for elementary teachers
The Nebraska Math and Science Summer Institutes (NMSSI) offer fellowships for graduate mathematics and pedagogy courses that are in a weeklong format to help you take advantage of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's professional development opportunities conveniently and affordably. Math 804P for grades K-5 teachers will be offered in North Platte this summer.

As follows are the course dates, times and description for the North Platte course from June 6-10, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.:
MATH 804P: Problem Solving & Critical Thinking for Elementary Teachers – Class # 3225, Sec # 954, Instructor: Chuck Friesen, UNL
The course seeks to build a strong foundation for the teaching and communication of mathematical concepts by the hands-on development of critical-thinking skills via problem-solving experiences. It provides a guided opportunity for the implementation of problem-solving instruction that is aligned with the new Nebraska mathematics standards in both the primary (K-2) and intermediate (3-5) elementary classroom.
