Help your students build problem solving skills
This summer, OPS teachers have a unique opportunity to take graduate mathematics courses through the University of Nebraska-Lincoln at no cost to them! All tuition and fees for eligible courses are funded by the Sherwood Foundation.
One more course for elementary teachers is available this summer: Math 804P: Problem Solving & Critical Thinking for Elementary Teachers. This course is worth 3 graduate credit hours at UNL.
From July 16-20, Math 804P Problem Solving (Class # 9497) will be taught by OPS teacher Tanya Archie. This course will be at the TAC building from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for 40 hours of face-to-face instruction.
Math 804P seeks to build a strong foundation for the teaching and communication of mathematical concepts by the hands-on development of critical-thinking skills via problem-solving experiences. It provides a guided opportunity for the implementation of problem-solving instruction that is aligned with the Nebraska mathematics standards in both the primary (K-2) and intermediate (3-5) elementary classroom.
Sherwood Fellowships make it possible for OPS teachers to take these courses at no cost for tuition or fees. Apply now for an “OPS Sherwood-Lozier Fellowship for Summer 2018” here: http://go.unl.edu/scimathapply . Please apply for the fellowship by July 9, to allow time for registering.
