Organizational meetings for several likely new OLLI interest groups are planned for the first half of 2020. Check out these descriptions of potential new groups.
Board Games
This can be an umbrella title for smaller groups that want to focus on their preferred board games. There are several members who want very much to organize a Scrabble group. Others want a variety of choices. Come express you thoughts and help get this interest group organized so you can develop your game craft.
Organizational Meeting
Day/Date: Tuesday, Feb 18
Time: 3-4:30 p.m.
Location: Stauffers Cafe & Pie Shoppe, 5600 S. 48th St.
Gastronomers
Fermentation is the unifying theme of this group. Members explore the wineries, bakeries, breweries, cheese salons and tea houses of Lincoln and our surrounding area. Do this through field trips, occasional speakers, sometimes tours, and always discussion and conversation. Sounds busy; it could be more than once a month, on different days like the Out to Lunch interest group, but probably in smaller groups. And wouldn't this be a fun basis for developing short term OLLI classes?
Organizational Meeting

Hole in the Wall
Lincoln, and our surrounding communities, is blessed by a plethora of small restaurants and cafes that serve local foods and some delightful specialties; each with a unique atmosphere and interesting clientele. Explore these places and the associated culture in small groups and reconnect with the smells and tastes of your past. Sounds like a good set of short stories too. Be prompt, this one ends by 3 p.m.

Please come to the meeting prepared to build on proposals. Each group must have at least one facilitator. Most groups should have two facilitators.
The size of interest groups does not matter; two is just fine to start. For all groups, the key to success and longevity is participation--being there and contributing.
Any member can start an interest group on virtually any topic of mutual interest.
