Lecia Brooks, outreach director of the Southern Poverty Law Center in Montgomery, Ala., will be the first speaker in 2018 Sorensen Lecture series on Sunday, Oct 14, 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Church, 6300 A St. The lecture is free and open to the public. No prior registration is required.
Her topic will be “A Radicalized Nation: How Do We Respond?” Danielle Conrad, executive director of ACLU Nebraska, will introduce Lecia and have a dialogue with her after she speaks. The Southern Poverty Law Center is a legal advocacy organization specializing in civil rights and public interest legislation. It is noted for legal cases against hate groups and for promoting tolerance education programs.
