The Arts for the Soul Music & Fine Arts Series announces its next concert of the 2018-19 season with Sing from the Heart—Musical Memories, on Sunday, Feb 17, 7 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 840 S. 17th Street, Lincoln, NE.
Featuring the First Presbyterian Choir with conductor Dr. Brian Pfoltner and pianist Dr. Charles W. Ore, this year the popular dessert concert and charity fundraiser takes the theme of “Musical Memories”.
The music will feature a number of popular pieces that will take the audience back in time to awaken musical memories from the past, as well as make new memories for the future. Popular jazz vocalist and Lincoln resident Jackie Allen, along with local jazz musicians Hans Sturm, bass, and Tom Larson, piano, will perform a number of jazz standards that will bring a smile to your face. Included in the evening will be fabulous desserts.
The evening will be a charity fundraiser for Music and Memory. MUSIC & MEMORY® is a non-profit organization that brings personalized music into the lives of the elderly or infirm through digital music technology, vastly improving quality of life. They train nursing home staff and other elder care professionals, as well as family caregivers, how to create and provide personalized playlists using iPods/MP3 Players and related digital audio systems that enable those struggling with Alzheimer’s, dementia and other cognitive and physical challenges to reconnect with the world through music-triggered memories. By providing access and education, and by creating a network of MUSIC & MEMORY® Certified organizations, they aim to make this form of personalized therapeutic music a standard of care throughout the health care industry.
Ticket prices are: $18 for adults, $15 for seniors (62 & over), $12 for OLLI members, $8 for students, children 12 & under $2. Ticket price includes dessert.
