Applying for Scholarships for the 2014-2015 Academic Year

Beginning in late November, enrolled students should apply for scholarships through the online Scholarship Application for Current Undergraduate Students. This application must be submitted by February 1, 2014. To apply, log into MyRED (http://myred.unl.edu) and select the Scholarship Application for Current Undergraduate Students. Submission of this online application allows students to be considered for scholarships awarded by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid and to be considered for scholarships within the student’s academic college and department.

The awarding of scholarships to current undergraduate students is based on one or several of the following criteria: cumulative grade point average, financial need, and a resume of activities.

Scholarship Renewal

Students should know the renewal criteria for every scholarship they have. Each scholarship has different criteria for renewal. For example, some scholarships state that students must complete a certain number of credit hours with a certain gpa in order to renew the scholarship. Other scholarships end after one year regardless of academic performance. IT IS THE STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO KNOW THEIR SCHOLARSHIP RENEWAL CRITERIA.

If your student is unsure about what they need to do to have their scholarship(s) renewed, encourage them to contact the Office of Scholarships & Financial Aid at 402-472-2030. Students may need to revise their spring class schedule to meet scholarship renewal criteria (i.e. take additional hours if they withdrew from a course in the fall).
