A big “Thank You” to our UNL Parents Weekend 2013 participants! We had a wonderful group of parents and students who attended and really made the weekend. We work hard to schedule the event and provide some different activity options and do everything we can to make the weekend fun for everyone – but it is the people who attend who really make the difference.
Here are just a few of the comments about some of the fun features from the weekend we received regarding this year’s Parents Weekend:
"Spending time with our child and the Memorial Stadium Tour. We still have never been to a Husker's game (we plan to try and attend maybe next year) but seeing the entire stadium inside and out was very exciting!!!!!!"
"Visiting with our daughter, meeting her friends, the Business Dean who spoke Saturday morning was EXCELLENT, would love to hear more from her and others like her."
"We enjoyed meeting other parents at the meals and enjoyed the stadium tour because that is a unique UNL experience."
"Seeing my student, meeting vice chancellor and assistant vice chancellor. I enjoyed the activities. It was so great to be there! GO BIG RED!!"
"Seeing my son so happy was the best thing of all. We really enjoyed Dean Plowman's speech on Saturday morning - that we really valuable information."
"I had four college students a number of years ago. An activity, such as the Parent's Weekend, was not offered at that time. Being a Lincoln resident, I was familiar with the Lincoln campus, but to follow along with my Michigan granddaughter was a wonderful experience, and a time spent together that we will treasure forever!"
By far the most "fun" feature of the weekend was the chance for families to spend time with their students - and I think the students appreciated it too.
This year was our highest registration rate yet, which presented some challenges for our organizers but made the weekend even better. So, thank you to all of our participants for being a part of this event. We hope that you left with a fun picture and some happy memories.
