UNL Parents Association Awards Over $5,000 in Mini-Grants to Benefit Students

Each year, the UNL Parents Association offers grant funds to support departments and student organizations that enhance the campus experience for the general student population. Awards are typically for $500 to $1,000. Following are the grant proposals that the UNL Parents Association has agreed to fund from the tuition raffle proceeds:

$ 300.00 Printing of Passports for the Passport to Success Program

$ 400.00 Promotion, Screening and Training for Eating Disorder Awareness/
Treatment Initiatives (University Health Center Counseling and
Psychological Services (CAPS)/UNL Eating Disorders Treatment Team)
$ 700.00 The Big Arabic Day at UNL Guest Speaker Expenses (Modern Languages
and Literatures)
$ 500.00 Diversity Not Adversity Training Package (Academic Advising Association)
$ 300.00 Immigration Experience Videos (Psychology)
$1,000.00 Career Cruising Software -3 year lease (Career Services)
$ 500.00 Winter Carnival (First-Year Experiences and Transition Programs)
$ 500.00 Expenses for bringing Kim Novak, prevention specialist, to UNL to address
some risk management issues and reducing high-risk drinking on campus and in the community (Campus High-Risk Behaviors Taks Force: Center for Civic
Engagement, Greek Affairs, Residence Life, Student Health Center, Student Involvement and other partners)
$1,000.00 Assist with expenses to allow students to participate in an Alternative Service Break at UNL Cedar Point Biological Station (School of Biological Sciences – Cedar Point Biological Station)

In all, the UNL Parents Association awarded $5,200 in grants to help with events and activities to benefit UNL students.
