The course primarily focuses on the law as it relates to the the relationship between providers and patients, and it covers topics like organ transplantation, advances in biotechnology, reproductive health, the right to die, and the limited right to receive care. The Office of Policy and Strategic Initiatives is responsible for researching, ideating, writing, advocating for, implementing, and evaluating education policy for Nebraska’s school systems. The office serves as the primary connection to the Unicameral and other state agencies, and ushers through the State Board’s legislative priorities and stances on bills.
The policy intern will provide students with firsthand experiences in analyzing bills and drafting summary documents, researching other education policy areas of mutual interest between the intern and NDE. Steve Nelson Yeutter Institute International Trade Internship Award

Interested in international trade and agriculture? Apply to intern in the heart of the trade policy community in Washington, D.C. at the Washington International Trade Association (WITA). Gain experience with trade policy issues in business, agriculture, law, NGOs, and the U.S. government. Through a Yeutter Institute partnership, the UNL student will receive a stipend that is supported by the Nebraska Farm Bureau to cover living costs as they intern full-time with WITA in Washington, D.C. over the 2026 summer.

• 10-week, full-time summer internship at WITA in Washington, D.C.
• The award was established by the Nebraska Farm Bureau to honor longtime president Steve Nelson.
Eligibility and Qualifications:
• Must be a UNL undergraduate, sophomore or above (enrolled in at least their third semester and have earned at least sophomore standing in credit hours at the time of the application).
• Must have at least one semester of study left following the summer internship
