1. How long have you been at your institution?
3 semesters.
2. Who is your favorite STEM character in a book, movie or TV show?
Luna from "Earth to Luna". She is a creative girl who investigates the scientific reason behind things. The creators are Brazilians, so I am very proud of that too.
3. What skills or knowledge are you learning throughout the program that you find most useful in your career?
I am very glad to have served as the project manager for PROSPECT and have learned a lot about managerial skills. Additionally, I am pleased to have had many “hands-on” opportunities in research and to have become familiar with the steps for writing a grant proposal in the STEM field.
4. What advice would you give to students who transfer from 2YC to 4YC?
Find yourself an engaging community. Being around people who are willing to help and share their experiences is very helpful.
5. Is your involvement in S-STEM work worthwhile to your graduate school journey? If so, please elaborate.
Being a project manager for PROSPECT has given me opportunities to learn more about qualitative aspects of research, practice general professional skills, and make connections. So, it has been a worthwhile journey.
6. What skill do you think is most valuable for students considering a STEM career?
I believe resilience is essential because all careers require individuals to overcome unexpected challenges.
7. Tell us about the most rewarding experience that you have had during your STEM career.
I will say that having the opportunity of being the project manager for such a large-scale initiative has been a rewarding experience in itself.
