James Madison University's NSF REU in Mathematics will host several projects next summer. One highlight is "Math Connections Theater", mentored by Dr. Vladislav Kokushkin (Virginia Tech), which blends mathematics, performance, and humor to study embodied ways of experiencing and communicating undergraduate math. The program runs May 26 through August 1, 2026, includes a $7,000 stipend, campus housing, and travel support to present at JMM 2027. Applications are due February 20, 2026 via NSF ETAP system. Students without prior REU experience are especially encouraged to apply.
