The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s fifth annual International Student Graduation Reception will be held virtually at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 7.
Hosted each year by the Office of Global Strategies and the Nebraska Alumni Association, the reception will celebrate the accomplishments of all international student graduates who have earned degrees since August 2020. In the last year, more than 700 international students from 74 countries have earned degrees from Nebraska in a variety of programs across all nine colleges. They join the ranks of the more than 200,000 Husker alumni living around the world today.
In order to be more accessible for graduates who have since returned to their home country or whose family members are unable to attend May commencement ceremonies, the reception will be hosted on the event website and on the Global Nebraska Facebook page. Replays of the event will be made available.
Josh Davis, associate vice chancellor for global affairs, will lead the event. Remarks will be provided by Shelley Zaborowski, executive director of the Nebraska Alumni Association, with special messages offered by several faculty and staff across campus.
Graduates will also have a chance to hear eight of their peers discuss their Husker journey, watch a photo montage submitted by international students, and be individually recognized for their accomplishments.
The event is open to all international graduates, friends, family and the university community. Reception details are available on the Global Nebraska website.
