The Spring semester at UNL is quickly winding down, but the 18 members of the University’s premier all-male a cappella group, the Bathtub Dogs, have been busy preparing for much more than final exams. Since January, the ‘Dogs’ have been diligently rehearsing in preparation for their semester concert, and they could not be more excited to show the public what they have been working towards. The group will present their spring concert “RACE TO THE DOG HOUSE” on Friday, Apr. 14th and Saturday, Apr. 15th at 8pm in the UNL Student Union Ballroom.
A Cappella is a unique style of music that has recently picked up a lot of positive attention in pop culture, and if you’ve been lucky enough to see the boys perform live, you know it’s no easy feat. But the Bathtub Dogs—with their goofy personalities—pull it off without a hitch. The concert will feature both old and new music, but will also air a few absurdly silly original short films which will poke fun at the…erm…‘interesting’ candidates running for President this year and create a make-believe world in which the Dogs, themselves, run for office.
In addition to singing and showing films, the Bathtub Dogs will offer their line of merchandise, including their four studio albums, branded drink koozies, tshirts, sweatshirts, calendars, and posters.
The concert is open to the general public, and is family-friendly (and don’t worry, it won’t actually get political). Tickets will be available at the door for $5 (students) and $10 (non-students). For more information, visit the Bathtub Dogs’ website (bathtubdogs.com) or find them on Facebook and Twitter.
The Bathtub Dogs are an all male a cappella group that has been entertaining students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln since 2002. Since then, the group has developed into a thriving ensemble with humor at the core of their personality. When they’re not in class, the Dogs perform on campus and all across the state of Nebraska, most notably including the opening act for the Grammy Award-winning rock band, OKGo. In the last year, the group released their fifth studio album, BIG NEWS, and have grown their ensemble to 18 members. Their goal as a performing ensemble is simple: to entertain.
