Named one of the world’s leading experts on men and masculinities, Michael Kimmel will be speaking at UNL on Wednesday, November 9th at 7:30pm in the Nebraska Union Auditorium sponsored by the University Program Council
Michael Kimmel is a dedicated advocate of engaging men to work together to support gender equality. His lectures are a combination of learning and interaction to instill skills and knowledge for males across the nation. Kimmel has given over 300 lectures at colleges, universities, and high schools across the country. He has delivered lectures to a diverse group of organizations such as the European Parliament, the European Commission and the Council of Europe; and has worked with Ministers for Gender Equality of Norway, Denmark, and Sweden.
Kimmel has written many books including Manhood in America, Angry White Men, The Gendered Society, and his best seller Guyland: The Perilous World Where Boys Become Men. Kimmel is currently the SUNY Distinguished Professor of Sociology and Gender Studies at Stony Brook University and travels the world lecturing about masculinity and gender equity.
