B1G Voting Challenge
B1G Voting Challenge

The chancellors and presidents of the Big Ten Conference have challenged one another with the Big Ten Voting Challenge, a competition that seeks to increase voter registration and turnout among students on all campuses. Based on the belief that one of the most important values taught at a university is the importance of civic engagement, the conference leadership established this non-partisan initiative to encourage students to exercise their right to vote. Trophies will go to two universities – the one with the highest eligible voter turnout and the one with the most improved turnout.

Each campus is organizing a local coalition, representing diverse perspectives, to mobilize student participation in the 2018 mid-term election. It will be the role and responsibility of the coalition to develop and implement a strategic plan to guide our get-out-the vote efforts.
The first meeting of the Husker Vote coalition is Thursday, February 8 at 4:30 p.m. in the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center, Unity Room/212. Pizza will be served.

ASUN and the Center for Civic Engagement are organizing, but they hope to attract student participation from a wide variety of student groups and individuals. For more information, please contact Linda Major, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, at or 472-3755.
