Master of Science in Archaeology and Cultural Resource Management

Program Mission
We train graduate students to conduct empirical, problem-oriented research, to meet the standards of the Register of Professional Archaeologists, and to become CRM project directors and principle investigators. Our program also prepares students for entrance into PhD Programs in archaeology and related fields.

Campus Setting
A Utah State University graduate education emphasizes collaboration and innovation, and provides a rich variety of learning experiences inside and outside of the classroom. USU is minutes from two federally designated wilderness areas and students have access to thousands of acres of public land for backcountry skiing, hiking, rock-climbing, mountain biking, and more.

Research Opportunities & Program Facts
Our core course of study supports the program’s mission through a curriculum focused on archaeological method and theory, faculty expertise, internship experience, and student thesis research. Graduate students are mentored to become independent scholars with the theoretical background and technical skills to conduct original research. Incoming classes are restricted to small cohorts to maintain a personalized, practical and scientific orientation and to sustain a high rate of funding for our students.
