First Husker Trade Talk Feb 25: Can international trade advance sustainability goals?
Join the Yeutter Institute for Husker Trade Talks, featuring free lunch (or breakfast!), and gain useful knowledge about issues in trade and career insights from experts at the top of their field. Whether your interests lie in sustainability, gender equality, agriculture, development, technology, journalism, or supply chain management, there are opportunities in international for everyone. Each month will focus on a different policy and career area relating to international trade. All talks are held in HLH 111. Spring semester talks and speakers are below. Learn about the connection between international trade and sustainable development, as well as Katrin Kuhlmann's career path where she will differentiate between the work of her nonprofit law and development center, New Markets Lab, and the higher-level policy work she does through Georgetown University -- both critical efforts! Featuring Katrin Kuhlmann, former U.S. trade negotiator, visiting professor at Georgetown University Law Center, president and founder of New Markets Lab, and senior associate with the Global Food Security Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

Featuring Edward Alden, senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations specializing in U.S. economic competitiveness and trade, visiting professor at Western Washington University, columnist at Foreign Policy magazine, and author of the book Failure to Adjust: How Americans Got Left Behind in the Global Economy

Friday, April 1, 8:00 a.m. How trade policy is made: working on Capitol Hill – breakfast provided
Ever wonder who is driving policy decisions? You may be surprised to learn just how many 20-somethings are helping shape policy development, researching issues and relaying constituent concerns and perspectives to their bosses, members of Congress. Learn about what kinds of jobs exist on Capitol Hill and get tips on how to get your foot in the door. Featuring Ken Levinson, executive director of the Washington International Trade Association, former government affairs director, and former policy advisor in the U.S. Senate, working with international trade, foreign policy, national security, and tax policy.
