Have you applied for a summer internship or research opportunity that is either unpaid, or has associated costs such as tuition, travel, or housing? You can apply for up to $1500 of funding to help support your experience. Funds may be used for transportation to the location of the experience, program fees or tuition, extra housing and food costs, conference participation, equipment, or any other reasonable expenses.

Undergraduate Student Intern at the Foster Care Review Office
• Foster Care Review Office (FCRO) has an opportunity for an undergraduate student intern to help our office track legislative bills and activity during the 2022 Nebraska legislative session. 
• The Foster Care Review Office is an independent state agency responsible for oversight of the foster care system in Nebraska.  In addition, the FCRO submits annual and quarterly reports to the legislature with data and information about children in out-of-home care in Nebraska.

2022 RAY DIVERSITY FELLOWSHIP
We are pleased to announce that the 2022 application cycle for the Roger Arliner Young (RAY) Diversity Fellowship⁠ is now open! The RAY Diversity Fellowship is a two-year (1-year with 1-year renewal), full-time position with partner conservation and clean energy organizations with the goal of increasing and facilitating environmentally-related career pathways for emerging leaders of color. RAY Fellows have worked in a variety of communications, climate, policy, research, education, fieldwork, and philanthropic capacities.


Eligibility & How to Apply
• Eligible applicants will:
• Come from a racial / ethnic background underrepresented in the environmental sector and demonstrate a commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Be no more than 1 year out of college and have a Bachelor's Degree by August 2022 (we are not considering individuals with graduate degrees at this time)
• Have not had a full-time job in conservation or clean energy
• Have the ability to work in the United States and commit to the entire fellowship

• These positions would be great for students interested in gaining experience in environmental education and science communication. We are looking to hire as soon as we can so that we are fully staffed for the field trip season in late spring and for summer. The six month positions can be either part time or full time.

ORISE Research Participation Program
• The ORISE Research Participation Program has announced new fellowship opportunities at the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
• BARDA provides an integrated, systematic approach to the advanced research and development of medical countermeasures for chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear agents, pandemic influenza, and emerging infectious diseases, like COVID-19, that threaten the U.S. civilian population. This is an exciting opportunity for fellows to be involved with such critical activities to help protect our Nation.

Legal Intern Position
• Bruning Law Group in downtown Lincoln is looking for hard-working students to fill a few legal intern positions for the remaining spring semester and for the summer. Duties include conducting legislative research, drafting, and editing documents, performing organizational tasks, and completing other duties as assigned. This position will report to the Special Projects Coordinator and requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and critical thinking. Interns will gain experience in a professional environment while interacting with attorneys and other support staff.

US Legal History Course – Summer 2022
• HIST 115: Making & Breaking Law in US History will be taught in the 1st 5 week summer session (June 6 – July 8). This is an ACE 8 course and would be a great course for students interested in learning more about our legal system. See attached flyer for more information.

Title IX Course – Fall 2022 (3 credits, ACE 5)
• HIST 112 will be available this upcoming fall and will focus on Title IX to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Title IX. In this class, you will learn more about the landmark legislation co-authored by Patsy Mink who attended UNL in 1947, and Birch Bayh of Indiana; develop legal history skills while focusing on a legislative bill that permeates your entire educational career; conduct research in partnership with public Title IX programming; and Learn more about the history of education, employment law, and gender equality in higher-ed AND K-12 settings. Leadership Opportunity – Students Together Against Cancer (STAC)
• UNL’s STAC student organization is accepting applications for their President, Treasurer, Secretary, Social Media Chair, Graphic Designer, and Volunteer Coordinator for next fall. Students Together Against Cancer, a registered student organization and UNL and a fully student run non-profit organization here in Lincoln. Students Together Against Cancer (STAC) provides emotional and financial assistance to cancer patients in the Lincoln community, provides opportunities for students to develop skills in their areas of interests, and assists other local cancer related organizations in their initiatives. STAC provides financial assistance to cancer patients and their families through the STAC Grant. Once an individual is approved to receive the STAC Grant, funds are distributed as either grocery gift cards or checks written directly to utility companies. While organizations often fundraise for a cure, STAC’s goal is to help treat the existing problem and help cancer patients focus on healing instead of the everyday financial burdens of cancer. This would be a fantastic opportunity to help lead a team making a difference to families dealing with cancer.

Scholarship for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention
• This award is to recognize an outstanding student majoring in a field related to health promotion and disease prevention on any campus of the University of Nebraska. Minimum Award is $1,000. Eligible candidates are regularly-enrolled University of Nebraska undergraduate students in good academic standing who are majoring in a field related to health promotion and disease prevention. Majors may include but are not limited to, undergraduate health professions (example: nursing, allied health), community health education, nutrition, psychology, biology, and exercise physiology. Candidates shall have expressed an interest in a career addressing health promotion and disease prevention, and insight into an understanding of careers related to health promotion and disease prevention. The career plan may focus on education, research, and/or practice, with particular attention to the needs of Nebraska and its citizens.

Scholarship - Nebraska Environmental Health Association
• The NEHA Scholarship is a limited term scholarship for undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled in an environmental health/public health science-based program at a Nebraska college or university. Recipients of the scholarships are required to be full-time students. Preference will be given to those with a connection to environmental health and/or public health in Nebraska; either through attending a Nebraska college or university or by working in the field of environmental and/or public health in Nebraska (example: internship or volunteer experience in NE). Selection may be based on scholastic merit, demonstration of community service, involvement in student-faculty research, and/or intention to seek internship or employment in the State of Nebraska.
