Dr. Tim Sefczek, SGIS's biological anthropologist with a focus on primate behavior and morphology, is taking students to Madagascar next summer. You'll get a chance to observe lemurs at Ihofa Vohitsara Bioreserve while gaining a hands-on experience on how to conduct primate behavioral studies.
Main outcomes of the course:
>>8 days in the field observing lemurs at Ihofa Vohitsara Bioreserve, 4 days in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar.
>>A pre-trip visit to Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo to hear from conservationists and practice observing lemurs.
>>Get first-hand experience in focal animal behavioral sampling, population surveys, and habitat assessment.
>>Students will gain a hands-on experience on how to conduct primate behavioral studies, and be exposed to the complexities of different forms of data collection.
