This course is an intensive three-week study tour of Greece where the students will use the sites, museums, and landscape of Greece as the classroom.
The aim of this summer study abroad program is to learn about ancient Greece through direct experience of the land and localities that gave rise to the myths and the way the Greeks perceived and experienced them. The basis of this program is the schedule of visits to numerous ancient Greek sites and museums located on the Greek mainland and multiple Greek Islands. These provide first-hand familiarity with the land and with established icons of ancient Greek theater, art and archaeology and with related concepts of landscape and aesthetics.
