I am a senior at UNL
My favorite book is called Terrible Maps. I like it since it brings together two things I enjoy: laughs and maps.
My favorite movie is Happy Gilmore. I enjoy this movie because it turns a serious sport into a great comedy.
I chose to major in geography because I enjoy working with maps and I want to contribute to making the world a better place.
My favorite class that I have taken and that I would recommend to others is Geography 422, it's an entertaining and interesting class that goes into more details about GIS. I would recommend other Geography majors to reach out to as many people as possible about different career paths in geography and try to find out which would be the best for you.
I have worked two different internships over two summers while at UNL. I have worked for the City of Omaha and JEO Consulting, both of which I have either worked with or used GIS for. I have also attended many sporting events here at UNL such as Football, Basketball, Volleyball, and Baseball. I enjoy going to different parks to relax, hangout with friends, sometimes play disc golf, and I also enjoy golfing.
My post-graduation plans, while I am not 100% sure, I would like to have a career in GIS. My other option would be to become an urban/city planner.
