
The aim of this course is to explore the biological consequences of stress resulting from exposure to racial and social inequalities, with particular focus on African American, Latino, and Asian American populations. Through readings and discussions, this course will discuss the role of psychosocial stress resulting from discrimination, racism, poverty, neighborhood violence, among other stressors, in affecting the health of minority populations and across different strata of socioeconomic status. Satisfies ACE 6 Social Science and CAS Diversity in the US requirement.
