Why Global Studies? I have always been in love with different cultures and have wanted to work with people from all over the world. I feel that this major gives me the opportunity to combine these two things. I have taken a number of classes that I have found really interesting such as Psychology of Immigration, International Relations and various Spanish. My suggestion for new Global Studies students would be to have fun with this major. We have such a large selection of classes that we can choose from so take what is interesting to you because that is how you will learn the most.
Tell us about your study abroad/internship experience. I was an intern at El Centro de Las Americas where I worked alongside the executive director and learned how non-profit organizations work. They actually offered me a position as the assistant director and I will be starting at the end of the month, which is something that I’m really looking forward to.
What are you post-graduation plans? I do not have set plans for the future at this time. One of my biggest passions has been working with immigrants and helping them assimilate to the culture in the US. For these reasons, and others, getting a job in the federal government is something that really interests me.
