Majoring in Anthropology and Global Studies, with minors in Asian Studies and Japanese.

Hometown: Hastings, NE

Year at UNL: Senior

Why Global Studies? I chose Global Studies as a major because of the interdisciplinary awareness it provides for a better understanding of the world we live in.

Study Abroad Experiences: I have visited Japan a couple of times. My last trip was this past summer on a faculty-led trip. It was an amazing experience traveling around to new parts of Japan. It was not a traditional classroom study abroad experience, so I was really able to immerse myself into the culture by going to a maid cafe, climbing mount Fuji, meditating at a zazen monastery, and singing at a karaoke bar.

Plans after graduation: Once I graduate this coming May, I will extend my studies in a graduate program at Creighton for Medical Anthropology. With this training, I hope to explore and address issues related to childbirth and stigma associated with it within the United States and around the globe.
