Name: Lindsey Espinosa
Major/Minor: Global Studies major with minors in Business, Communications, English, and Human Rights & Humanitarian Affairs
Hometown: Santa Clarita, CA
Year at UNL: Senior

Favorite book and why:
The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly. It's like the perfect mash up of Into the Woods and Pan's Labyrinth.

Favorite dish/food and why:
Mole enchiladas! Spicy, sweet, and it reminds me of home.

Why Global Studies?
I chose to major in Global Studies gave me the opportunity to explore many different academic disciplines and broaden my horizons. It's important to be able to look at different issues -- especially human rights, which is my main passion in my studies -- through various lenses. My favorite classes I've taken for this major have been history classes, though -- Algeria & France with Dr. Le Sueur and The Holocaust with Dr. Steinacher.

Tell us about your study abroad/internship experience:
I studied in Paris with API during spring semester 2016. In addition to studying and soaking in the most beautiful city in Europe, I completed a 40 hour service learning project by working at a soup kitchen twice a week.

What are you post-graduation plans?
I will be taking a gap year next year, and I am planning to teach English in both Thailand and Vietnam while applying to law school. Then I will be back in school, on my way to becoming a criminal defense attorney!
