Name: Brianna Zimmerman
Major/Minor: Global Studies, Minor in Spanish
Hometown: Pierre, South Dakota
Year at UNL: Junior

Favorite dish/food and why: Biscuits and Gravy. I love breakfast and I love comfort foods. Biscuits and gravy are the perfect combination to a perfect morning.

Why Global Studies?
I chose Global Studies as my major because I am really passionate about other cultures throughout the world. I believe it is very important to learn about other people's ways of life and be able to connect with one another. In any type of job it is important to be diversified and be considerate towards others. This world is becoming very globalized so I think having a Global Studies major is very crucial to our society.

Favorite class so far:
One class that I has been very interesting to me so far is HIST328, Germany 1914 to Present. I have really learned a lot about the conflicts that Germany has had to endure in the past and what actions they pursued to solve these disputes. The concepts I have learned so far in this class can really apply to the American society as well as other nations.

Recommendation for new GLST majors:
For new Global Studies majors, I would recommend to do as much research as possible about the major. It benefits a lot to get a good understanding of what is available for you either volunteer, internship, or career wise. By looking into things sooner, you will get a better experience out of the major and benefit even greater in the future.

Tell us about your study abroad/internship experience. - I have not studied abroad yet but I am planning to go to Spain this Summer.

What are you post-graduation plans?
After graduation I hope to be accepted into an opportunity with the Peace Corps or another volunteer organization. Hopefully later on in the future I would like to pursue a Masters degree in Social Work.
