Favorite book and why:
To be honest I don’t have a favorite book. I’m a believer that all books are great, as long as they have a meaningful message or knowledge whether it is a novel or my chemistry book. So, to me a book is all about what purpose it serves me for my personal or intellectual growth. However, one book that I really enjoyed is “The Giver”. I like this book because it challenged my perspective of how our society directly and/or indirectly is affecting or in others words controls me in many ways.

Favorite movie and why:
"Home Alone" is my favorite movie because it is the only movie in this world that my whole family agrees to watch on Christmas night. It unites us in our living room and it makes us all laugh so hard that we even cry.

Why Global Studies?
I decide to become a Global Studies because it provided me with opportunity to learn and expand my knowledge about cultures other than my own. One of the requirement for this particular major is that you study abroad, which beside it being a great experience for your academic and personal growth, also exposes you to the world.

What are some of the best/most interesting classes you’ve taken?
I think that all the classes for this major are very interesting specially because is so flexible that I get to choose a good portion of the classes of my interest. Now if I have to choose my best classes have been Sociology 217 and intro to Global studies. My suggestion for new Global Studies majors is to not to be afraid to explore this major and to enjoy all the classes they are all great to learn and expand our knowledge from other culture. This classes are good for our future career whether you go into a medical career or political career. This major will expand your knowledge about other culture and learn so much more from them than what you hear. This will make you a well rounded, and for sure outgoing person.

Study Abroad Experience:
I had the opportunity to study abroad last spring semester, 2017 at the University of Coimbra, Portugal. I have to say, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity that changed my view of life. While studying abroad I took some economic classes, a Portuguese class, a business class, and management and people class. All of these classes were out of my field of knowledge except for Portuguese. At first it was a little bit challenging because I had no background about any of most courses I was taking. At the end, I was so happy I took them. Now, I have a little knowledge of how economics works and what strategies to apply to my employees if I ever what to have and make a successful business. This are some class that I would probably never even thought of taking in my life, but studying abroad exposed me, it took me out of your comfortable zone. Lastly, the most important thing from studying abroad you get to make friends from countries you may never even know about. You built a network of connect all around the globe. Now, I can say that I have a friend from Bulgaria, Belgium, Italy, UK, Portugal, Spain, Morocco, and many more. You can to learn different way of living, different religions, different and delicious foods. The list of what you learn over studying abroad is endless and it will change you life forever.

Post-graduation plans:
Currently I am applying for Nursing School and then will be on my way to becoming a Nurse Practitioner. I hope to get accepted to the Nursing Program here in Lincoln. I have come to really like this city even though it is a little far from home.
