Favorite book: Anything by Ernest Hemingway because he writes incredible adventure and travel stories that were usually based on his own experiences.

Favorite movie: Palm Trees in the Sand; it’s a love story told through the eyes of different generations set in both modern day and the colonial period in a Spanish colony in Africa.

Why Global Studies? I loved the idea of getting a well rounded and interdisciplinary education of the world all the while being able to take classes on regions of it that interest me the most. I have been able to take incredible classes that count for my global studies major while abroad including History of Spain and Latin America and a movie class focusing on Pedro Almodóvar’s work. I would suggest not being afraid to take a class you that may challenge you or that you have no prior knowledge about because you can find interests you didn’t know you had and you can earn so much about a whole new part of the world!

Study abroad experience: I will be spending a year in Madrid, Spain taking classes at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid which is the best ranked school in the country and has over 100,000 students (like 4 times the amount of people in my hometown haha). I have been fortunate enough to do some amazing trips around Spain including: Bilbao, San Sebastian, Segovia, and Granada. My every day routine includes walking through a beautiful park to the college campus, planning out trips, attending exchange student events where I meet people from all over the world, and hanging out with my friends from American universities in my program.

Post Graduation Plans: I plan to get my masters in Psychology so that I can work as a clinical psychologist for a charity foundation in an impoverished area of Buenos Aires that provides free psychological services for people that can’t otherwise afford them.
