Name: Megan Deprez

Favorite book and why: Soif by Amélie Nothomb. I love this book because I have the opportunity to translate it from French-English this semester as an Independent Study. I am also a sucker for anything historical fiction.

Favorite movie and why: The Lizzie McGuire movie! So nostalgic. I love how it transports me back to my childhood.

Why Global Studies?
I choose Global Studies because of its interdisciplinary nature. I love studying lots of different things and think that utilizing different disciplines to create solutions and come up with answers to why things are the way they are is vital in our very global age. I also love that within the Global Studies major you are encouraged to live and study abroad. I think living in France has not only improved my French skills but also taught me a lot about living in other cultures and learning in different ways than I am used to. If I could give any advice to a Global Studies major, it is to take advantage of every opportunity you get to improve yourself in your undergraduate career and have fun!

Study Abroad Experience: Studied in France.

Post-Graduation Plans: I plan on attending UNL for a master's in French and a certificate in Museum Studies. I hope to pursue a career as a literary translator and a museum curator.
