The Honors Program is offering Conflict Cuisine: An Introduction to War and Peace Around the Dinner Table as one of their 209H seminars this fall. Learn about the linkages between food, displacement, and cultural preservation with social gastronomy expert Johanna Medelson Forman.
"After decades of trying to solve some of the
world’s most intractable conflicts, I’ve come to
believe that bringing people together around a
common table may be a better way to build peace
than other forms of intervention. In fact, I believe
the kitchen is the new venue of foreign policy."
Open to all Honors students and other UNL students with permission (email uhon-office@unl.edu.) In Global Studies this could count for either the Identity, Culture & Society theme or the Global Security & Foreign Policy theme.
