The Nebraska Water Center (NWC), in partnership with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s School of Natural Resources, will begin its annual Spring Water Seminar Series in January. This year, the focus is on current issues related to Nebraska water. The public series takes place most Wednesdays throughout the spring from 3:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. in the Hardin Hall Auditorium. A full schedule can be found here: https://watercenter.unl.edu/resources/events/Water%20Seminar%20Series_2020.pdf

In addition, the series – with writing assignments and in-class, student-led discussions on alternate weeks – doubles as a one-credit hour undergraduate/graduate course listed under NRES/AGRO/GEOG/GEOL 484/884 and WATS 484. Students interested in registering should be junior level or above. The series will also be livestreamed from the Nebraska Water Center homepage.

This year, the series includes a wide range of lecturers from across the country and around the state. Together they will provide diverse perspectives on water, from groundwater modeling to supplying water to thirsty cities. With the recent devastating flooding, recognizing the state’s ever-changing water issues is as essential as ever. Established in 1968, the series provides a forum to increase awareness and allow for meaningful conversation regarding these issues.
