HealthierU and the University of Nebraska Federal Credit Union are offering Financial Fitness: Strengthening Your Money Skills, a four-week financial well-being challenge running from June 2–29. This program is designed to help faculty and staff build greater financial confidence, outsmart common pitfalls and develop strong, lasting money habits.

Whether you're just starting your financial journey or looking to level up your skills, this challenge provides practical tools, helpful resources, and a supportive structure to help you take control of your financial future one week at a time.

Each week, you’ll focus on a different “training zone” designed to strengthen key areas of your financial well-being:

Week 1: Resistance Training for Scams

Just like resistance training builds physical strength, this week will help you strengthen your ability to spot and block financial scams, phishing attempts and identity theft. You'll gain knowledge and confidence to protect yourself and your finances.

Week 2: Core Training — Taking Control of Your Finances

A strong core supports every movement in fitness—and the same goes for managing money. This week focuses on budgeting basics, building healthy spending habits and setting realistic financial goals that reflect your personal values.

Week 3: Credit Score Bootcamp

Your credit score is a major part of your financial health. In this session, you’ll uncover what affects your score, how to improve it, and why it’s so important when applying for loans, renting an apartment or even job searching.

Week 4: Heavy Lifting — Tackling Your Debt

End the challenge strong by facing debt head-on. Learn how to prioritize and manage debt, explore repayment strategies and create a plan to move forward with less financial stress and more peace of mind.

Participants will receive weekly emails filled with helpful tips, short activities and trusted resources. The challenge is designed to be flexible and accessible, and no prior financial knowledge is required.

This free challenge is open to all University of Nebraska faculty and staff. Whether you want to build better habits, strengthen your financial literacy or simply feel more in control, this challenge is for you.

Registration for this program opens on May 12. To register for this challenge visit HealthierU's website.
