Four University of Nebraska-Lincoln online programs were recognized in U.S. News & World Report's 2015 Best Online Programs rankings released Jan. 7.
The university's online graduate education, bachelor of science in applied science and master of engineering management programs continued to climb in rankings while the master of business administration remained among the top programs in the nation.
UNL's highest ranking came from the online Graduate Education Programs category. UNL ranked fifth in the nation, up from 11th last year, placing it second among Big Ten schools. Programs represented in this category include family and consumer science education, educational administration, special education and German language education.
"Distance education is an important part of our overall effort to provide high quality graduate education to students worldwide," said Marjorie Kostelnik, dean of the College of Education and Human Sciences. "We are pleased that this quality, diversity of programs and convenience have been recognized."
The bachelor of science in applied science saw the biggest jump, landing at 40th in the Best Online Undergraduate Programs category, up from 74th last year.
"The bachelor of science in applied science enables our college to impact the world from Nebraska," said Steven S. Waller, dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. "Our program offers flexible pathways to degrees in agriculture, environmental, and other science-focused careers. Graduates of our program are talented, highly trained professionals who create solutions, develop innovations and make discoveries that address the world's great challenges."
The master of engineering management moved up seven spots to 34th in the Best Online Graduate Engineering Programs after its debut at 41st on the list last year. And continuing its annual presence among the top Best Online Graduate MBA Programs, UNL's master of business administration placed 21st nationally, third in the Big Ten.
These programs are among the more than 100 degree, certificate and endorsement online programs offered by the four campuses of the University of Nebraska system. More information about these and other UNL online programs can be found here or at NU Online Worldwide, the university-wide distance education initiative.
