The last day to register for SciComm 2016, a two-day conference on effective science communication, is Sept. 6. The conference is Sept. 23 and 24 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
The National Alliance for Broader Impacts workshop and Railyard event are free; registration for the symposium is $20, and includes lunch, snacks, and a coffee tumbler.
The SciComm Symposium will feature keynote speaker Melissa Marshall from TED. The NABI Broader Impacts Workshop will help you learn to design and implement broader impacts for National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Health. And Science Night Live!, public outreach extravaganza in the Railyard, will help get the public excited about biology.
Basic research is fundamental for informing our understanding of the world and shaping the policies of our elected leaders. That makes it of great importance that researchers can advocate for their work and be able to clearly convey their findings to the public.
SciComm 2016 offers the opportunity to learn from nationwide experts in diverse fields who are leading the charge to improve science literacy and engagement. The conference is supported by the School of Biological Sciences, College of Arts & Sciences, the departments of Physics and Sociology, Central Administration, Nebraska Science PoE, the Materials Research Science and Engineering Center, the Office of Research and Economic Development, the UNL Libraries, SEPA, Nebraska EPSCoR, Doane University, and the NASA Nebraska Space Grant.
