Join us for a conversation with Kristin M. Stewart, U.S. Department of State Foreign Service Officer, at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 15 in Old Father 827 on City Campus.

Stewart is currently on domestic assignment as the Diplomat in Residence at the University of Oklahoma. Kristin will talk about career opportunities in Foreign Service including the Pathways Program, U.S. Department of State Internships and other opportunities to help you reach your career goals.

Kristin Stewart has served as a career member of the U.S. Foreign Service since 2002. Before assuming her current position as Diplomat in Residence at the University of Oklahoma, she was the Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Consulate in Basrah, Iraq.

Including her assignment in Iraq, Kristin has served in diplomatic assignments at six overseas posts. Prior assignments include: Public Affairs Officer in Panama City, Panama (2013-2016); Cultural Affairs Officer in Dakar, Senegal (2009-2013); Press Officer in Managua, Nicaragua (2006-09); Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer in Mexico City, Mexico (2004-06); and Vice Consul and Assistant to the Ambassador in Bogota, Colombia (2002-04). Temporary duty assignments have taken her to Argentina, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guinea Bissau, Mali, South Africa, and Suriname.

Kristin has a Master's degree in Public Policy (MPP) from the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. While there, she served as the graduate student instructor for the MPP international relations course. Her Bachelor's degree in Foreign Service is from Georgetown University, where she focused on Science and Technology in International Affairs and Latin American studies.

Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Kristin worked in the Office of International Programs at the University of Michigan as a study abroad advisor. She and her husband Carlos, a tax and finance lawyer, have three daughters. They own a home in Colorado, Kristin’s home state. She is fluent in Spanish and French.
