French scholar Raphael Cuir will present "The Cyborg As a Figure of Projection" at 3:30 p.m., Nov. 4 in the Nebraska Union Georgian room. Presented in conjunction with the Orlan exhibition at the Sheldon, this lecture will address the figure of the cyborg as depicted in literature and movies.
Cuir received his doctorate in art history from the Ecoles des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris, France. He has published numerous articles on the history of art and contemporary art and has worked as a writer for the Art Press Journal. Cuir currently conducts research on the representation of the body focusing on anatomy and art from the Renaissance to the present.
