The Biochemistry Distinguished Alumni Seminar will be led by Dr. Deepak Madhavan, director of the Nebraska Comprehensive Epilepsy Program, at 4 p.m., May 1 in the Beadle Center, room N172. The seminar, "Epileptology — What's That?" is free and open to the public.

Madhavan is an assistant professor of neurological sciences in the University of Nebraska Medical Center's College of Medicine. He completed a fellowship at New York University, focusing on epilepsy surgery and magnetoencephalography. While at NYU, he was awarded a Research and Training Fellowship for Clinicians from the Epilepsy Foundation of America.

Prior to joining UNMC, Madhavan founded Mid West Epilepsy Associates, an epilepsy-focused private practice. He is also president of Lifestyle Innovations for Epilepsy, a locally-based, non-profit organization dedicated to the assisting people living with epilepsy.
