Bio studies major earns 'Semester at Sea' award

Laura Tracey, a senior biological sciences major, has been named one of eight Presidential Scholarship Award recipients for the Semester at Sea Program.

Founded in 1963, Semester at Sea is a non-profit Institution for Shipboard Education and academically sponsored by the University of Virginia. The institute has launched 100 semester at sea voyages that have included more than 50,000 students from 1,500 institutions.

Tracey will participate in the spring 2012 voyage. The program will last 105 days and stop in 11 countries, including South Africa, India, Vietnam, China and Japan.
