SCMA 450: Communication for Business Analytics
SCMA 450: Communication for Business Analytics

This course is an introduction to intermediate and advanced approaches for business data visualization and communication in the context of analytics. Topics include best practices for explaining, summarizing and interpreting analysis, results, insights and recommendations in response to typical decision problems encountered in organizational settings across industries such as finance, healthcare, retail, and government.

What makes SCMA 450 especially valuable is how directly it prepares students for careers in business analytics and supply chain. Through hands-on tools like Power BI, exposure to guest speakers, and continuous presentation practice, students gain experience working in collaborative environments. Whether it’s cleaning data, building dashboards, or presenting findings, the course emphasizes the full analytics workflow.

Dr. Gupta recommends students take this course early on in their college career because the skills learned can immediately be applied to internships and future course projects.

This course is offered every fall semester and is a requirement for Business Analytics majors. SCMA 350 and 335 are prerequisits. Please reach out to Dr. Gupta (shivamgupta@unl.edu) with further questions!
